The nine directions
Centre · Seven Red Po Jun (Breaker Star)
Loss of money, gossip and petty people; also theft and accidental loss. A waning star in Period 9. Traditionally mind the security of doors and windows there, keep valuables elsewhere, and be cautious with money.
Northwest · Eight White Zuo Fu (Assistant Star)
Steady wealth, property and reliable income; also the building of family assets. Still a growing star in Period 9. A good place for things tied to finances and the household; keep it tidy and stable.
West · Nine Purple You Bi (Celebration Star)
Celebrations, marriage, fame and popularity. In Period 9 (2024–2043) it is the timely star and at its strongest. A good space for family gatherings or anything that needs liveliness; keep it bright and warm.
Northeast · One White Tan Lang (Greedy Wolf)
Popularity, romance and promotion; also wisdom and new beginnings. The direction it visits traditionally favours networking, job seeking and relationships. Keep it bright and tidy; a good space for meeting and talking with people.
South · Two Black Ju Men (Illness Star)
Traditionally the "illness star": wear on health and stamina, with older family members, especially women, needing more care. Traditionally kept quiet: avoid major digging or renovation there, and look after rest and health.
North · Three Jade Lu Cun (Quarrel Star)
Arguments, disputes and legal trouble; also impatience and conflict. Traditionally kept free of noisy appliances and arguments; favour talking things through over pride.
Southwest · Four Green Wen Qu (Literary Star)
Study, exams and scholarship; also writing, research and creative work. A good spot for a study or desk, favouring reading, exams and focused work.
East · Five Yellow Lian Zhen (Five Yellow)
The most inauspicious of the nine, traditionally called the Five Yellow: accidents, illness and setbacks. The direction to watch most each year. Traditionally no digging, renovation or major moving of furniture there; keep it quiet and stable.
Southeast · Six White Wu Qu (Military Star)
Authority, helpful patrons and windfall wealth; favours promotion and decisiveness at work. A good place for work-related things; keep it orderly to support confidence and drive.
