Offending the Grand Duke
The Grand Duke (Tai Sui) is the branch of the current year, traditionally seen as the deity on duty for that year. When your sign is at odds with it, you are said to offend the Grand Duke. There are five common forms:
- Sitting with
- Your sign is the year's branch: your own zodiac year.
- Clashing
- Your sign clashes with the year's branch (six apart), also called the Year Breaker; traditionally the strongest effect.
- Punishing
- Your sign and the year's branch punish each other.
- Harming
- Your sign and the year's branch harm each other.
- Breaking
- Your sign and the year's branch break each other.
Offending the Grand Duke does not mean the year will be bad; it is a reminder of more change and a need for care. Temple rites and good deeds are traditional responses; we do not recommend buying remedy items. A steady routine and careful decisions are the practical answer.
