卦辭
亨，利貞，可小事，不可大事。飛鳥遺之音，不宜上宜下，大吉。
Success. Perseverance furthers. Small things may be done; great things should not be done. The flying bird brings the message: it is not well to strive upward, it is well to remain below.
宜小不宜大，過在謹小慎微而非冒進。

山上有雷，小過；君子以行過乎恭，喪過乎哀，用過乎儉。
Thunder on the mountain; the noble one gives preponderance to reverence in conduct, to grief in bereavement, and to thrift in expenditure.

- 宜小不宜大，過在謹小慎微。可小事不可大事，此卦明講：現在不是做大動作的時候。

- 宜低調用心。行過乎恭，態度上多一分客氣，此時不會過頭。

- 小額可為。飛鳥遺之音不宜上宜下，往低處走比往高處衝安全。

- 用過乎儉，此時節省一點、簡單一點對身體有益。別追求高強度。

- 做小而確實的進度。密雲不雨，成果還沒顯現是正常的，繼續累積。

- 不宜遠行。飛鳥以凶，此卦明說飛高有險。

- 在低處、小地方，別往高處找。小過宜下不宜上。

飛鳥以凶。
The bird meets with misfortune through flying.
飛鳥以凶。鳥一飛就出事。此爻是小過卦的總綱：這個時候往高處去就是凶。
過其祖，遇其妣；不及其君，遇其臣，无咎。
She passes by her ancestor and meets her ancestress. He does not reach his prince and meets the official. No blame.
過其祖，遇其妣。越過祖父見到祖母，見不到君主卻遇到臣子。无咎：此爻的智慧是接受次一級的結果。
弗過防之，從或戕之，凶。
If one is not extremely careful, somebody may come up from behind and strike him. Misfortune.
弗過防之。不肯多加防備。從或戕之凶：此爻的凶在輕忽，明明只要多小心一點就沒事。
无咎，弗過遇之，往厲必戒，勿用永貞。
No blame. He meets him without passing by. Going brings danger. One must be on guard.
无咎，弗過遇之。不越過而正好遇上。往厲必戒：此爻能保住是因為守住了分寸。
密雲不雨，自我西郊，公弋取彼在穴。
Dense clouds, no rain from our western territory. The prince shoots and hits him who is in the cave.
密雲不雨，自我西郊。雲很厚卻下不了雨。公弋取彼在穴：此爻的收穫要向低處求，不是向高處。
弗遇過之，飛鳥離之，凶，是謂災眚。
He passes him by, not meeting him. The flying bird leaves him. Misfortune.
弗遇過之，飛鳥離之。錯過了還要越過，鳥飛走了。是謂災眚：此爻是全卦最重的判詞。
